Kofola’s turnover reached a record CZK 3.5 billion in 2006

Kofola, Central Europe's leading producer of non-alcoholic beverages, today announced its economic results for 2006. According to estimates, last year the company earned CZK 3.5 billion through sales of it products and services. The acquisition in November of the company Klimo, one of the three largest Czech producers of private-brand beverages, was among the company's main investments last year.

According to initial estimates, Kofola's turnover increased year-on-year by 12.6 percent, thus reaching a record CZK 2,256,000,000. The number of people employed by Kofola in the Czech Rebublic grew to 565, a 14% increase over the previous year. For the Kofola group as a whole, employment grew by 29%. In absolute terms, this means a year-on-year increase of 260 workers, one-third of whom are employees of the Klimo subsidiary. The group now employs over 1,100 people.

“These results are very encouraging for us and we are delighted that for the first time we succeeded in surpassing the magic three billion mark. It was again demonstrated in 2006 that our strategic steps are in the right direction. We managed to confirm that we are a stable and strong player in the Central European soft-drinks market, as well as a good employer, customer and reliable supplier,” said Martin Klofanda, Group PR Manager at Kofola , commenting on the preliminary results for 2006.

Kofola now has four production plants
In 2006 Kofola expanded its production capacity, and thanks to its acquisition of Klimo it now has four production plants in Central Europe – two in the Czech Republic, one in Slovakia, and one in Poland. The parent company Kofola Holding a.s., which is headquartered in Ostrava and owns and controls all of the group's subsideries, was established in November 2006. At the end of last year Kofola thus capped a long-term process of restructuring, the aim of which was to convert the company into a multi-national entity with a holding-company form of management.

The Kofola brand gets a facelift
One of the most important projects of last year was the redesign of the company's key brand – Kofola. The brand's new image is partially derived from proven elements of the original design that had remained unchanged for a number of years, though the end result is a fresher and more attractive appearance. The concept is the result of cooperation between Kofola's team and the UNITY GDG agency.
